Our connection with Hainan began in 1993.

Darwin and Haikou are sister cities and used to have a student exchange program.

Our son Shannon was selected to take part in the student exchange in1993.

He Ping from Haikou came to live with us as the other side of the exchange.

Brian travelled to Haikou to visit Shannon during his one year stay. So began our connection with Hainan.

We have visited Hainan many times since 1993.

In August 2001 we went to Wenchang to teach English at the Hainan Foreign Language Normal School. We stayed there until July 2002.
